5 Ways To Decrease Stress During the Work Week

Sometimes the work week can be extremely stressful. Whether you are bogged down with work, juggling two jobs, or are a full-time student with an internship position, a chaotic schedule certainly takes a toll on our bodies. It can be easy to forget to slow down and recharge. Take a breather and try out these five ways to help decrease your stress levels.
1. Plan ahead
Staying ahead of the game can truly make your work week less intimidating. If you know you have midterms next week and a big project at work to complete, sit down and write out a plan before beginning.
Whether it's creating a schedule, to-do list or even just small reminders of what's taking place that given week, making the effort to stay as organized as possible leaves less room for error at the work place and can help ease your mind. Remember, it's all about prioritizing!

2. Indulge
After a long day at work, sometimes you need to satisfy your sweet tooth or dig into a savory snack. Stop by a bakery on your way home from work or pick up a few snacks for work the next morning. While I am not recommending going overboard and using food as a source of stress relief, a little indulgence never hurt anyone!

3. Go Technology Free
We're all occasionally guilty of being consumed by our cell phones, laptops and COC (Clash of Clan) accounts, so make the step to go technology free for a night. Without even realizing it, our favorite gadgets have the potential to create more stress.
Allows you mind to clear by not immediately responding to every text, e-mail and social media notification you get. Worries and distractions at work, school, home and your social life can all be put on hold, even if it's for a few hours before bed. Learn to enjoy the silence and feeling of a clear mind!

4. Stay Hydrated
This might sound simple, but staying hydrated during the work week can make a huge difference. Being properly hydrated helps every part of your body function better, including your brain! Invest in a reusable water bottle to make your daily water intake that much easier.

5. Make Time to Relax
Take the time to sit down, stretch, nap or listen to some music. Finding time to relax and unwind will help alleviate any stress that accumulated over the work week. If silence isn’t your ideal form of relaxation, invite a few friends over for a movie night, take a mini shopping trip or exercise. Find those few things that disengage your thoughts from work and stick to it.

Whether it's time alone, list making, a technology free night, or your favorite dessert that decreases your stress level, try to remain consistent with practicing forms of stress relief. It will help make your work week less stressful and even enjoyable!
